Air Attack
Fighter-Bombers and Combat Mission

 Page 1

Pictures in this sequence taken from WiId Bill's excellent Saving Private Ryan inspired "Ramelle" scenario.

This first picture sees the little town of Ramelle embroiled in a desperate fight.  In the left side of the frame you can just make out the exhaust smoke of four incoming rockets.  Note the planes shadow just adjacent to the Sd Kfz 7/1 Flak vehicle.  For that matter check out the Sd Kfz!!!  Yup,  another CMHQ exclusive!  You didn't think those pesky fighter-bombers wouldn't have to worry about SPAAA (Self Propelled Anti-Air Artillery) did you?!?

Just above the occupied building three of four rockets can be seen screaming in.  Again you can just make out the planes shadow as it races across the terrain.  The plane has decided to go with rockets instead of strafing due to the confined quarters of the town.

IMPACT!!!  The expanding blast cones of four separate rocket hits can be made out in this shot!

Another view of the rockets as they hit home.  One interesting point,  both the Tiger and the Flak-Truck  had already been abandoned prior to this attack run!  The fighter-bomber didn't care,  it saw armored vehicles and attacked!

Yet another shot of as the last rocket hits home.  The ability to take pictures at such precise moments is greatly aided by the new 'single step' VCR functions mentioned in today's Did You Know feature.

A view of the attack above from a different part of town.  You can just see the explosions between the buildings.  Now this Tiger IS occupied and doesn't appreciate being disturbed by an aerial attack.  More from this guy in the next installment!
