Translucent
Occupied Buildings
In the Demo and until recently
in the Beta, occupied buildings were displayed with the walls
mostly removed so proper identification and detection of friendly
occupying units could be made. This has always worked well but it
did somewhat spoil the graphics as all the occupied buildings looked
like small walls instead of large structures. Well again BTS has
surprised us all with a new innovation. It's called
Translucent Occupied Buildings and
when turned on it means that when a unit is inside a building you will
see the walls of that building as translucent, in other
words see-through.

Here is the all
too familiar town of Riesberg using the current building graphics mode.

By typing
"SHIFT-Y" we can toggle on Translucent Occupied Buildings and
we get this awesome new effect!

Another view
close up of an occupied building. Note: You can still remove the
roofs as per before with "Shift-R".

Here is that
pesky MG-42 up in the Church. Looks ghostly doesn't he?

A Panzerschreck
team with the older style building display. Note the less
obtrusive Compass in the Background.

And now with
Translucency applied. I have positioned the camera to 'straddle'
the wall so you can see the inside view as well. The translucent
effect only works when looking into a building and not when looking out
from, as this picture also shows. You can toggle this effect On
and Off at will, during both Order and Action phases!

Here is a view
from an American Infantry squad as it tracks a German unit into a
building.
It interesting to note that
this new feature came out of the blue and even surprised the
Beta-testers. Proof positive that BTS is tweaking and adding to
Combat Mission all the time...
