Interface Enhancements
(page 1)

Big Time Software continues to polish and tweak Combat Mission before its final release to the public.  The changes shown below enhance the overall look of the game and add welcome sparkle to this already brilliant gem.

We will take a look at several of these new enhancements which include:

  • Colored 3D Targeting and Move Lines

  • New graphic for Rubble

  • Group selection for orders and movement

  • New graphic for Rough terrain

  • Targeting lines visible for ALL units

Here we get a good look at the 3D command and control lines, notice the gradient shading! this makes the lines much more pleasing to the eye and easier to see from far away

A change that was implemented shortly after the Demo was released is contour following for the movement lines. This shot shows it quite clearly!

A nice head on view of the 3D movement lines for an entire column.

Here is another view of the group select function. I have just dragged the cursor over all these units. Up in the center is a building that has already been rubbled and it shows the new texture,

I have just let go of the mouse button and the AI will highlight a unit which will be the group 'host'. In other words any order which I issue to the group will emanate from this unit.

You change which unit is the current 'host' by clicking any unit currently in the group. If you click on the terrain then the entire group will be deselected or you can shift click any non-group unit to add it.  You can also shift click a unit in the group to remove it. Here we see as I have started to target this building. Note: I have changed the current 'host' unit by clicking on the StuH42.
