ORDERS
FOR FIRST MINUTE
Jacob reports that, with his telescopic
sight, he can see movement about a kilometer away. Not enough to shoot at,
but it lets me know my time has run out. Damn it, Meister’s platoon is
still strung out. Rather than try to regroup them in their forward
positions, possibly exposing them to a fast-moving enemy, I order the
exposed forward elements back into town, from whence I’ll re-deploy them
to bolster the right-forward defense.
Everybody else is given orders to
direct their attention to specific areas and not fire at enemy units they
spot that are far more distant than that. I don’t want to have one or
two squads at a time firing on any advancing Amis, inviting a storm of
return fire on their positions.
ACTION
IN FIRST MINUTE
The men on the left side of town report
tank-engine sounds to their front, about 250 to 300 meters distant. This
is an unwelcome, but not unexpected, development. Fortunately the sounds
seem to be moving in a way that will soon bring whatever is making the
noise into sight of Kraus’ gun. Hopefully they won’t fail.
Klappert reports that he can definitely
see American troops moving through the trees to his front, about 300
meters distant. He is certain there are multiple groups of infantrymen,
and not just a single scout.

“Here
come the American troops. At bottom-right Lamp’s platoon is waiting”
Meister’s detachment makes it back
into the first line of buildings, save for the heavily burdened
Panzerschreck team. I hope they are not caught in the open between their
starting positions and the town.
