Turn 10

For the purposes of this AAR, I have assumed the personality of Capt. Turner, unit A-0.

Orders – Turn 10

It a slight change of plans, I decide that “discretion is the better part of valor” with the tanks.  Instead of going into town, the two on the left are going to stop by the first row of houses until Dog makes their first attack. Another minute of artillery on that AT gun should suffice I hope.

The two tanks on the right are going to go to the right of the woods, behind Fox.  I doubt the Germans will be expecting that and I don’t need them in the village.  I’ve also ordered Baker to continue on to the next row of houses.

I’ve decided to be more conservative with my tanks.

Action – Turn 10

Nothing very bad happened this past minute but nothing very good happened either.  Most disappointing is that my arty did not knock out the big AT gun on our left.  Surpress yes.  Nullify no.  And because I brought Dog platoon forward too soon, they’ve now come under mortar fire and lost another 4 men.  I think they will have to attack now because they are just too concentrated where they are.  The Germans indirect fire seems to be more effective than mine, probably because he is staying spread out.

My tanks continue to dominate the field though.  I just need to remember not to get too aggressive with them and they will continue to do so.  Finally, my push up the middle with Baker platoon continues to go well.

Fire from two squads has convinced this machine-gun team that falling back to another building is not a good idea and they are reentering the building they just came out of.

Yet another near miss.  We are keeping their heads down most of the time but I am disappointed in their accuracy after 75 seconds of fire.

Even though they were ”hiding” in woods, this tree burst took out a couple more guys in Dog platoon. The HQ section also took two casualties this turn.

We did spot some Germans moving up on our far left but they are too few and too far away to worry about any time soon.

The envelopment around my opponent’s left continues unchecked.
