Debriefing
I
believe I must state at the beginning that I have never played a more
educational game. By turn 1, I had already learned that I have been too
narrow minded when predicting what my opponent will do. The pace of
Fionn’s initial attack was something that I never considered before. I
must try to be more open-minded when predicting possible tactics that I
might face.
The
next biggest lesson I learned is to try to offer better routes of
withdrawal to my defending infantry. The only route available to the guys
on the left side of the map, Fionn’s main thrust, was the wheat-field.
This might work well if they had time to crawl across it. However,
if my enemy pushes harder than that, then a wheat-field is a lousy path of
withdrawal.
The
one bright spot in what I did was dealing with Fionn’s AFVs. I believe I
did a pretty good job of that and maybe the only mistake was targeting the
60mm mortars on the Halftracks.
