Character
Creation Sheet
Your character in the CMMC will be created in the narrative style. There are no stats as would be found in a traditional role playing game, rather, you will describe your character in the form of a biography. There are only two rules: Combat Experience: For battalion commanders, every three years of wargaming equals one year’s service in combat formations. In other words if you have 15 years of wargaming experience than you will in-game have 5 years of service in combat formations. This, of course, is limited to how long your nation has been at war. If your character joins prior to the war, you are free to develop the pre-war background as you see fit. The start-date of the CMMC can be taken as 1st June 1944 for purposes of service dates. For officers above battalion command, use the following as a guideline: 5 or less years of wargaming experience is the equivalent to joining the military in the 30’s. 6 to 10 years the 20’s, and more than 10 years experience equates to WW1 veterans. Keep It Realistic: Your biography must be historically plausible. If you slide to far from the norm, back it up in your bio. Guidelines You character biography can be of any length. The more you put into it, the easier it will be for you to “get in character.” A cool side benefit to the process of writing a bio is the learning opportunities. The bio should contain the following: Name: Your character needs a name. The name you choose must not be related to your real name, or any online nicknames you use. Therefore, if I were playing a German, I could not use Daniel von Braun or Götz von Berlichtingen. A note on the German “von”: very few battalion commanders at this point in the war would be from the nobility, nor would many SS officers of any rank. Family and Pre-Service Background: What did you do before joining the military? Where are you from? (note to German players: The unit you are with may dictate where you are from. See http://www.percy.clara.net/wehrkreis.htm for details. An example: If you are in the 12th Panzer Division, you are from Northern Germany). What work did you do? Where did you go to school? Military Background: What units did you serve with (this is required)? What campaigns have you been part of? What awards have you received (this is required), and what did you do to deserve them? For this section, you should try to reflect your playing style. If you play aggressively, make your character aggressive. A note to the German players: There is a reasonable chance that the unit you command in the CMMC will not be the same as you are with on June 1st (there are a lot of ad-hoc formations formed in 1944). To indicate this, write your CMMC command as “post June 1st.” Allied players are more likely to stay with the same formation for the duration.
